Should I talk to my vet before purchasing?

At Good Dog Co. we are passionate about empowering you to prioritise your pet’s health and wellbeing, and will always advocate for the importance of having a strong relationship with your pet’s vet. Our recommended products are aligned with leading Australian Pharmaceutical companies that provide certified and high-quality products, and are designed to make up a part of your dog’s holistic health care program. If you ever have any immediate questions or concerns regarding your pet’s health, we’d strongly encourage you to contact your vet directly.

My pet is indoor only – do I still need to treat them?

You betcha! Parasites are opportunistic little things, and they’ll take any chance they can get to hitch a ride on your pet. Anything from a trip to the vet, to sitting too close to a door or window, even hidden parasites brought in on your clothes can provide opportunity for fleas and pests to infest your pet. Read more about how parasites find indoor pets here.

How often do I need to treat my pet?

Every single month.  No excuses! Don’t worry – we’ve got your back and will make sure your treatment arrives exactly when you need it.

Should I treat my pregnant pet?

The safety of the products recommended by Good Dog Co. have not been tested in breeding, pregnant or lactating pets. We would recommend consulting with your vet directly before treating your pregnant pet.

What type of treatments do you use?

Our treatments for Good Dogs comes in tablet form, and we promise they’re so tasty that even the fussiest pets will love them. In order to be adequately absorbed, you should give to your dog either with food or within 30 minutes of feeding.

If you’re having trouble getting your pet to take the treatment, we’d recommend crumbling it up and mixing it with their favourite wet food or offering it to them with a bit of cheese.

Our treatment for Cool Cats is a topical on the spot treatment. To apply, remove any collar prior to application and replace when product is dry. Part the hair until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube firmly twice to apply the solution directly on the skin. Avoid pet’s eyes or mouth.

What parasites do Good Dog Co's treatments protect against?

Our treatments protect against Aussie pets’ three biggest threats – fleas, ticks and worms.

To get specific, the following pests don’t stand a chance with Good Dog around:

- Paralysis ticks (Ixodes holocyclus)

- Brown Dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus)

- Bush ticks (Haemaphysalis longicornis)

- Fleas (Ctenocephalides felis), including flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) and flea tapeworm infestations

- Roundworms (adult and larval Toxocara canis, adult Toxicaris leonine)

- Hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense, Ancylostoma ceylanicum: larval (L4), immature adult (L5) and adult)

- Whipworm (adult Trichuris vulpis)

- Heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis)

How do pets get parasites?

Unfortunately, it’s pretty much impossible to avoid parasites – they’re everywhere! Every time you take your puppy pal to the dog park, or let your cat out for a backyard adventure, they’re at risk of coming into contact with one of the many nasty bugs that can cause them harm.

For a more detailed guide to the causes of parasite exposure and infestation, check out this blog post.
